Abertay University's business support office is providing grants of up to £25,000 for small companies (based anywhere in the UK, unless otherwise stated in calls for region-specific applications) that are developing their own games or other forms of interactive digital content. Our aim is to foster economic growth, facilitate job creation, and improve skills development in the sector. Abertay University does not take ownership of any IP or equity created during the project.
You don't have to be a grant applicant to be involved in this project. Larger companies are invited to take on a contest commissioning role, providing an attractive route-to-market for a grant-funded smaller company. We also support the inclusion of talented graduates on grant funded projects through our Talent Pool, providing paid work experience and skills development. Your project should have an aspect of competitive advantage within the market. We’re not only looking for a great idea, but implementation and execution too.
Your project should have a clear route to market. Demonstrate how you plan to secure funds to complete development and launch the product.
Your project should be commercially strong enough to generate sufficient revenue to grow your business.
Show us that your team can develop and deliver the prototype to the set budget and timescales. Detailed planning is the key here.
Your business should be able to grow and strengthen, forming a long-term co-located team or studio. Single-person developers and dispersed teams please take note.
